Description
A Good Pair of Louis XVI Period Fauteuils a la Reine
in the manner of Pierre Bernard

Constructed in giltwood, with the backs and seats covered with Beauvais tapestry panels; rising from ring turned and tapering fluted legs, having shaped side and front rails, carved with stip fluting, issuing from rosace corner blocks, with conforming back seat rails, and angled toprails; the swept arms carved with imbricated entrelacs.
Literature
Pierre Bernard (1730-1788) was received as a 'Maître-menuisier' in 1766, whose work is illustrated in Pierre Kjellberg's 'French Furniture of the 18th Century', published by Edition de la Amateur, Paris 2004.
