A Fine Kangxi Famille Verte Porcelain Plaque or Tile c.1700-1720. The Double Sided Hollow Famille Verte Plaque is Painted in Great Detail with a Scene of a Scholar Kneeling in Front of his Desk to Presenting a Letter ( ? ) to a Well Dressed Woman Holding a Fan. The Scholar`s Desk is Laid Out with Scholars Equipment Including a Brushpot with Brushes, Ink-stone, Water-Pot and a Book. To the Left is a Young Servant Peering Through a Circular Opening to Offer Two Cups of Wine to the Couple. Further Left the Garden is Visible with a Fine Balustraded Fence and a Scholar`s Rock. The Reverse of the Tile or Plaque is More Simply Painted with Scholar`s Objects. The Sides Unglazed with Holes Made to Support the Tile Within a Wooden Surround, the Sides Show Textile Marks That remain From When the Clay was Wet.
