Description
Both parts well-carved in imitation of a jade original in openwork and deep relief with a curled qilong (an archaic form of dragon with a bifurcated tail). The two sections are joined by a dragonhead hook on one side which goes through a loop on the other. Underneath they are pierced for lightness with openwork swastikas (the ‘wan’ or ‘ten thousand’ symbol in China, embodying a wish for long life).
