‘At Trouville’ by Ernest Rancoulet

The finely cast and planished bronze young female figures, dressed in bathing costumes play ‘saute-mouton’, with a straw hat in the sand. Signed to the base, and marked ‘ A Trouville’.
Exhibitions
Rancoulet attended the Fine Art College of Bordeaux, and later became a pupil of Eugene Lesquesne, a Gold Medal winner at the 1855 Paris Exposition, and exhibited in the Paris Salon from 1870 onwards. The Eugene Boudin Museum at Honfleur, adjacent to Trouville, has another model of this subject.
