Description
An unusual suject for Chinese jade, but of particular interest to the Manchu, who were only a few generations away from being nomads of the steppes. The beast is finely-carved, with a rather sweet expression, using a darker brown inclusion in the greenish-yellow stone, so that from one side its body contrasts attractively with the head and shoulders.
