Description
Width: 39.9cm
Height: 30.3cm
Depth: 8.1cm

Decorated with an intricate pastoral scene framed by two trees and a man sitting on a wire. The border with three scenes of animals running across a landscape, separated by a spider killing a dragon fly and a scorpion. The complexity and inventiveness of the decoration is exceptional.

The painting is close to the group characterised by sunbursts known as the ‘Serie Alvaro’ painted by Vicente Alvaro. It is perhaps by the same hand as a Mancerina illustrated in El esplendor de Alcora, Cerámica del s XVIII, 1994, p. 77, no. 231, and a tureen and cover in Alcora en Nueva York, La colección de cerámica de Alcora, The Hispanic Society of America, p.261, 2005.
